Cotts Farm Equine Hospital accepts equine colic cases requiring surgical treatment. This represents a first for South and West Wales. Up until now emergency colic cases have had to be driven to England to receive the life-saving surgery, incurring significant delays which, in some cases, has resulted in loss of the horse. These cases can now be treated in Wales without the costly drives and life-threatening delays.
Colic surgery is performed by Richard Coomer, recognised European Specialist in Equine Surgery. Twenty-four hour per day post operative intensive care of the highest standard is provided at Cotts Equine, providing horses and owners with optimal chances of success. Colic cases should always be examined by the client’s regular veterinary surgeon in the first instance. Referral to Cotts Equine for possible surgical treatment can then be arranged if necessary.
